‘Jewel Verba Hogue, 93, formerly of Paris, died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 1999, at Brownwood Regional Hospital in Brownwood after a brief illness. Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home will conduct graveside services at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, at Evergreen Cemetery with the her grandson-in-law, the Rev. Cary Killough, officiating. Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. She was born April 11,1906, in Howland to Everett and Goldie Chron. She was married to Glen Hogue for 50 years before his death in 1975. They were married in Howland. She was a homemaker, a retired school teacher, and a member of First Baptist Church in Paris. Surviving are her son, Larry Hogue and wife Sue of Brownwood; three grandchildren, Lori Killough of Brock, Robin Hogue of Brownwood, and Glen Partin of Lake Brownwood; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Goldie Danner, and two granddaughters, Vickie Shrum and Lana Witt.’
