Michael Creed Perry (1971 – 2022)
He was born in Waynesboro, Virginia on April 11, 1971 to Paul Michael Perry and Josa Jane Chron Perry (who currently live in Afton, VA). His early years included selling family farming bounties at the farmer’s market, learning how to support himself with summer jobs at the coal plant and moving company, and camping out with the Boy Scouts. Mike attained the Eagle Scout distinction. He was preceded in death by his brother Eric Clinton Perry.
He is survived by his loving wife Kristen Deem Perry and three daughters, Kathryn Hope (Raleigh), Madalyn Faith (Raleigh), and Lauren Grace (Waxhaw). Mike and Kristen married on September 2, 1995 after meeting at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech). Mike was a huge Hokie fan wearing one of his Hokie football t-shirts on the day he passed.
There was no better father than Mike. Mike and Kristen adopted Kathryn and Madalyn from China in 2002 and fully integrated them into the family and life in America. Lauren finished the family when she joined them in 2011. Mike was their “rock” that helped everything come together.
Mike spent his days (and some nights) as a computer engineer at Wells Fargo. He worked for First Union starting in 1995 and transitioned through all the banks up to Wells Fargo. He was known to many as an expert in the credit card business.
His passion was golf. He started playing golf when he was in college and continued his quest to be a better golfer. He took golf trips annually to Myrtle Beach with a group of friends. Additionally, he was an amateur BBQ king always trying new things on the Big Green Egg and Blackstone griddle.
A service to celebrate Mike’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 4, 2022 at McEwen Funeral Service Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Road. The family will receive friends following the service.
