Patricia Chron Nichols, age 70, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2022, after a 7 month battle with Glioblastoma brain cancer. She was born March 10, 1952 in Houston, Texas to Wilburn “Sam” and Ethel Ercelle Chron. She lived her entire life in Montgomery County, Texas. Her unwavering faith in her Heavenly Father began at an early age when she accepted Christ as a young child at Mims Baptist Church where she was brought up learning about the Lord. She attended Conroe schools and graduated from Conroe High School in 1970. She married her “Cowboy”, Robert Nichols II, at Security Baptist Church on March 31, 1972. They were blessed to celebrate over 50 years of marriage this year.

She had various jobs throughout her life working at the Conroe Courier, Montgomery County Tax Office and being a stay at home Mom raising her girls. She recently retired from the Montgomery County Library Genealogy Department after 25 years of service.

She cherished raising her daughters, while providing them with a strong foundation of how to live a life pleasing to the Lord in all she did.

Her greatest pride and joy was being “GIGi” to her grandchildren. She was always there for them when they were sick. She could be found in the stands cheering them on at sporting events and taking lots of pictures. She spoiled them every time she had the chance, with slumber parties that included brownies, Blue Bell ice cream, and her famous popcorn.

She made her house a home for all who entered. Her passion for home cooked meals, her love of having all of her family together, always putting others first, and her warm and gentle spirit will be greatly missed.

She took joy in being a faithful member of Cook Springs Baptist Church in Huntsville, Texas. She served in many capacities but her favorite was serving as the Pastor’s wife. She was affectionately named by the congregation as “The First Lady” throughout her 17 year membership, where her husband still pastors. She ministered to him while he ministered to the church. She is much loved and will be terribly missed by her church family.

To know Pat was to love her. If you were blessed to be touched by her, then you understand the imprint she left on our hearts far exceeds the quantity of time she lived here on earth.

Pat is preceded in death by her parents and her granddaughter, Emma Grace Reaves. She is survived by her husband, Robert Nichols II, her two daughters Amber (Tim) Ivey, Kari (Scott) Reaves; grandchildren Lane and Avery Reaves, Caden and Cameron Ivey; her brother, Sammy Chron; her beloved mother in law, Merlene Nichols and various nieces, nephews and cousins.

A visitation will be held at Cashner Funeral Home from 6-8 pm on Sunday, December 4, 2022. Services will be held at Cashner on December 5, 2022 at 10:00 am with Dr. Bob Pitman officiating. A private interment will follow at Hickory Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers are Scott Reaves, Lane Reaves, Tim Ivey, Caden Ivey, Cameron Ivey, Scott Fulp, Luke Jones and Logan Jones. Honorary Pallbearers are Sammy Chron, Don Yates, Gene McCafferty, Donnie Johnson, Paul Eberhardt and John Reaves.

The family would like to thank Cook Springs Baptist Church for their many acts of kindness to the family throughout this difficult journey. They would also like to thank Heart to Heart Hospice and Kristy Holcomb for the wonderful care they gave to Pat in her final days. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cook Springs Baptist Church at 1936 State Highway 75 N, Huntsville, TX 77340.
